Matthew Himmelman

Raised near Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Matthew began playing trumpet at age 11. He played trumpet and euphonium in various school band ensembles throughout his student life, and began playing third cornet with Chester Brass in 1999, after being introduced to the band by a past member offering sectional tutorials at his school.

When the opportunity arose in 2008, Matthew moved to the foundation of the band where he currently plays BBb bass. Since then, he has also enjoyed playing tuba with other members of Chester Brass in a classical dixieland band.

Matthew currently resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he enjoys a rewarding career as a Professional Engineer.
