Michael came to Nova Scotia in 1984 as a professional engineer, where he returned to playing the cornet with Chester Brass after 6 years. He was encouraged to join the band by his first employer, who had both a tuba and trombone player in the band. Since then, he has changed instruments and now plays the tenor horn and occupies the Solo Horn chair. Before moving to Nova Scotia, Michael played in school bands and the Scarborough Symphony. Hope Gendron

Originally from Homer City, Pennsylvania, Hope took up the french horn in the 4th grade at age 8. After high school, she earned a B.Sc. in Music Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. After moving to Nova Scotia, Hope joined the Chester Brass Band on Eb horn. She teaches music and band at Georges P. Vanier Junior High School, and is Chairperson of the Nova Scotia Youth Wind Ensemble.
