John Bird

Originally from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, John started “hitting things rhythmically” at age four. He took up the drums at 12, clarinet at 14, and went on to study music at the University of Portland, in Oregon. Since 1983, John has been a frequent guest drummer and percussionist with the Chester Brass Band. He was awarded the Lescarbot Award by the Government of Canada, for contributions to the arts community in Liverpool, Queens County. John is semi-retired from private music teaching, and now resides in Rhodes Corner, Nova Scotia.
